Here's a scratch built old west gold mine that I've put together for a game at Warfare next week. There's more info and photos on the blog: link |

Absolutely love it, great job! Brings back memories of Boot Hill RPG games back in the day. |

Great idea, I've planned to do a mine in a hillside but this looks much better and easier to make. Love it. |

Nice. Reminds me of our trips to Leadville, Colorado. |

This is just the head frame that hoists the ore, and waste, out of the mine, and might also the workers down and back up. From here the ore goes to a stamp mill, a pretty large structure, and there needs to be a cyanide plant nearby as well as the waste tailings and various and sundry other assorted structures probably including a steam plant. An underground gold mine is a large, complex place with plenty of hazardous chemicals – like mercury as well as cyanide. I've toured a few here in California's gold country. Best one to visit is at Bodie, the ghost town – though the Empire Mine in Grass Valley is pretty cool, too. Maybe think about adding a Pelton wheel somewhere to your model. But, yes, it is pretty cool, nicely done. |
