Hi there all,

I'm just getting into naval war gaming, and I'm planning on getting a few 1:700 vessels to start up two small fleets. Probably no more than 4-5 ships per side for me and my friends to just play some campaigns with. What rulesets are out there that would work best for this scale and fleet size, or does scale not even factor into what rules you use?

Thanks!

I have played the Fletcher Pratt rules in 1:700 at conventions before and it worked just fine. They had an area of about 30 feet square for the game.

What era?

The original General Quarters works pretty good for a few ships per side. You can do a nice destroyer skirmish on a patio or driveway with said. You will just have to scale up the range bands and turn gauges, probably 3-1 or 4-1 since the rules are designed for 1/2400.

I tend to use the old Skytrex WW2 rules for games involving CLs and larger ships in this scale (the set with the diving Ju88 on the front covr)

Thanks for the suggestions. We're planning on playing a campaign set during the 1890s-1910, to the person who asked.
