Found this review about Black Ops that looks promising. Maybe for Sci-Fi as well… My first attempt to post this got mixed up with someone else's post and refuses to appear on my front page, so i have tried again. The best thing that can happen to a wargaming fanboy is to get hold of a new ruleset prior to publication. This happened to me with Black Ops, the coming new release by Osprey Publishing. Unfortunately it took me several weeks to find the time to play it, as I eventually did at Crisis in Antwerp. So I completely blew my scoop! Despite of that, the game is defintely worth a review.

Thanks for the review. I'm especially interested in the stealth rules. Two questions: Once the shooting starts, what are ranges like? Some rulesets have very long ranges for weapons (my preference) but others shrink it down to say 24" for rifles. Also, is it a terrain heavy game (again my preference)? By that I mean if there's little terrain it's very bad if you're being seen or shot at. |

Terrain heavy, as it states in the book 'open space' will be bad for the operation! Weapon ranges are 'effective' 24" for rifles, shorter for 'lesser' weapons but as the table is not meant to be huge, 4x4 or so rather than 8x4 I don't see it as a drawback ,I game in 20 mm but will stick with inches recommended for 28 mm………..if you want to extend them you could……….. |

Ok. I like a larger table but I can always extend the ranges; I'll be using 28mm minis. I'm just trying to avoid the "Hah! I'm 26" away and you can not touch me!" |

You need a 'stretchy' measuring tape……….an old gaming buddy of mine had one that stretched by about 25%……….always funny to see others reactions! |
