From my previous post on my son's wargame birthday party, I thought I'd run my scenario design by the greater population of TMP. The party has grown to 7 participants. I think in the interest of moving things along, each player will have 5 regular troops and 1 hero. So six figures in all. In case one player gets stomped early, they can bring a new squad in at their starting point. This is a treasure hunt style scenario. Each group has to go to various areas on the board and "look" for treasure. They can allocate up to 3 figures to search. They get 1 die per figure searching. If they roll a 6, they find a treasure-a chocolate coin. If they roll a 1, they find a guardian who, if defeated, will drop a chocolate coin. Only the searchers can initially fight the guardian. The rest of the group may join on subsequent turns. Each player may only successfully search an area once. They may fight other groups as they see fit. However, once a treasure is awarded, it cannot be "stolen." The winner is the player with the most treasures (coins). I think this game can go for perhaps 12 turns at the very most. I'm going to lay it out tonight to see what it looks like. We can either play it on a 4X4 or a 6X4 table. Figures move 6" and if allowed can shoot 12". Did I miss anything? Does this seem sane…enough? Thanks John |

Sounds like fun. Perhaps though, to get your adventurers to be a bit more cautious, if they get wiped out, give them fewer troops in the next turn, say, 4 or 5 total, instead. That way, the others won't feel like their actions don't matter, since they'll get fresh troops anyway. |

7 to 8 years old. It won't be more than 12 turns. Quite frankly, they will probably get fidgety in 45 minutes of game time. |

Chocolate coins eaten by player who earn it, doesn't count to final victory. It will learn them responsibility. :) Wandering monster? Wandering black cat bringing bad luck? Some transporting systems helps with mobility: river with boats (mowing every round), slowly owing train, buffalo herd, movable bridge, big container handling gantry crane to catch the hook and risk fall/jump. |

Some good ideas here. I'd already thought of a bridge as a possible location for treasure. Guess what the guardian will be? if they get wiped out, give them fewer troops in the next turn, say, 4 or 5 total, instead. That way, the others won't feel like their actions don't matter Also an excellent idea! |

You want to give them a reason not to get their guys wiped out? If they get wiped out, all chocolate coins being carried are lost, perhaps eaten by surviving players. |
