Curious if anybody is eating there after the kitchens were shut down by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania elite anti botulism squad a few weeks ago. |

I ate a turkey sandwich there yesterday. I'm not sick. |

Long line for breakfast today. I had breakfast two days. I'm still alive. Today I had chili-in-a-bowl and a hot dog later. I'm still alive. I haven't heard of anyone getting sick. I can't tell any difference from Cold Wars in March. I don't know if that is good or bad. But I didn't get sick in March either. Tom |

Has the Host broken the USD 10.00 barrier yet for the sandwiches they peddle outside Distlefink? B |
Extra Crispy | 07 Nov 2015 12:23 p.m. PST |
Sandwiches are $7.50 USD. Hot dogs are $4. USD The food looks the same as I always remember which is to say wretched. Tonight instead of hall pig they had fried chicken, shredded pork and beef. All under a heat lamp. Yargh. |

My wife's service-pup-in-training ate 2 of the 1/4-lb hot dogs and survived, so take that for what it's worth. |

The hall pig/shredded pork was very good. The staff was friendly; no complaints from me. Something I never noticed before… the hotel had some security people walking around. Doesn't bother me one way or another, but I think it's something new. |
ViscountEric | 08 Nov 2015 2:21 a.m. PST |
The meatball sandwich I had was HUGE and my daughter ate a hot dog. No ill effects. Outside of the overflow lot being roped off at 830am on Saturday morning, I had no other complaints about the Host this year. |

My friend and I ate the from the burrito bar at lunch time and we both are fine. The burritoes were OK, large and filling, but a bit bland. We also ate at the sandwich bar downstairs. I had a cheese sandwich with everthing and my buddy had sandwich too, with no bad side effects. We also had a great time gaming. Came Friday and ran a game Saturday. All six games were very fun with good friendly gamers. Cheers! |

Ate sandwiches for lunch on Friday and Saturday and had hot dogs Saturday night for supper. I didn't have any ill effects from the food. |

Usual stuff. It beat going over to the Texas Road House Friday night at 5:15pm and waiting for an hour to get seated. |

I avoided it. My group went to Golden Corral on Friday night, and then Millers for a big breakfast Saturday morning. Its been awhile since I've eaten a Host sandwich and don't plan to again anytime soon. There's just too many good options in Lancaster. |
Pizzagrenadier | 08 Nov 2015 3:28 p.m. PST |
You consider Golden Corral and Miller's feeding troughs good options in Lancaster yet balk at the Host food? Weird. |

Ordered the chicken sandwich. Took a bite. It was raw inside. Not good. DM |

I considered a meal upstairs but decided to have hot dogs instead. Thought they would be safer. I wonder if the postings effected revenue? |
Chris Palmer | 09 Nov 2015 6:41 a.m. PST |
I think they had to have experienced some decline in revenue… I know only a couple folks in our club dared eat their food, and usually a majority of us do, as it is quick and convenient for GM's. Though on the other hand, some of us were less than trusting of the potential cleanliness of their ice machines and plumbing, and opted to buy bottled water rather than drink from the free water dispensers, so maybe they made up the sales on bottled drinks… |

As you can see, the main criterion for food seems to be suitability. 'Nuff said. |

I did eat at the Host in spite of what Weightwatchers was telling me. |

I vote to have the HGMS board get a new menu for dinner time. I am tired of the pork feast. I did eat it one night and is was pretty darn good. I vote for a "decent" pizza and salad buffet. Mike B |
Moe the Great | 10 Nov 2015 10:38 a.m. PST |
I had the BUrrito which wasn't bad.(Tortilla, meat cheese, salsa.. what's to screw up?) And dare i say, Hall Pig and the Brisket. Both were edible, not great, not bad. We did try Dickies BBQ on Thursday night, we really liked that. Moe |

You consider Golden Corral and Miller's feeding troughs good options in Lancaster yet balk at the Host food? And what major list of health inspections has either of those locations failed recently like the Host? Miller's is a fine establishment and very popular. |
capncarp | 11 Nov 2015 9:59 a.m. PST |
Mrs. Carp and I took a late Friday midnight/early Saturday morning jaunt up the road to the Waffle House for some cheesy eggs. Service was friendly and the food was OK, and the coffee was good. |

I am tired of the pork feast. I did eat it one night and is was pretty darn good. Like Mike, I had the "hall pig" one night too. I found it very good and good value too. |

As I mentioned elsewhere…. I ate there for the whole time except 2 meals…. one dinner at a Thai place and one breakfast at the Coral… for what it is worth.. It was all very tasty, if not displayed fancy…. Some of you folks must have golden pallets because for what it was, the food there was above par. And no, my standards are not that low. I saw issues at the Coral across the street and that place is less than a year old, so please, stop with the "Host food sucks" thing… it is getting old. Don, I do feel for you…. I would have returned the chicken and gotten a new one. And for the rest of you… That is about the most valid complaint I have heard, the rest is just blather about low expectations…. I found the food to be pretty darn good. I cannot wait to hear the complaints roll in when the venue changes and the prices go waaaaay up…. and folks actually have to pay for the quality that they expect from the Host… Now as for variety…. Hall Pig is getting old in my mind…. next year they will have soup and grilled cheese on Sat instead of burritos both lunches. The soup bowls are very tasty too, but I am looking forward to some serious Tomato basil soup with rice in it and a good solid grilled provolone!!!! |

Not to pile on….but I am going to pile on. There weren't a lot of lunch options in the dealer area. I ordered the Chicken Salad wrap and was very frustrated that the wrap had feta cheese on it. I was also frustrated by the lack of chicken in the wrap. Then I figured out that there wasn't feta cheese on the wrap. It was the chicken. The chicken tasted like mushy feta cheese. #Packing lunch next time |

LOL!!! I have never eaten in the vendor area… interesting. I will have to give this a go at CW. I take that back… I think I bought a candy bar and some fruit once….. but I will honestly try something of sustenance…. (fingers crossed)! |

Perhaps spending 6 weeks sleeping in an M577 command track and eating MREs and T-Rats, but I've never really had a problem with the Host's food. Yes, its pricey hotel fair, but pretty good otherwise, and certainly both better and less expensive than what is served at the FCC. Also, I'm a nut about their scrambled eggs. Now I've little idea as to what they prepare for onsite conventions, but Hershey Lodge has often been mentioned as a possible replacement for the Host. It has 6 eateries of which the Bear's Den Sports Bar is probably the most casual. Cup of soup at the Host – $ 3.00. At the HL – $ 5.00. Burger with fries at the Host – $ 10.00. At the HL with chips – $ 12.50 to $18.00 USD (cheese is $ 1.00 extra). No real problem for me, but as Dan alluded to, be careful what you ask for. You might get it. Colonel Bill ageofeagles.com PS: I'd rather spend my shekels on toy soldiers. |

The employee working the snack bar in the dealer hall had a look on his face the entire time like was having a root canal; didn't exactly inspire confidence in the food. My cousin went out Friday and got me something decent to eat, I ate fruit and snacks all day Saturday and had a decent meal Saturday night. I never have and never will bitch about food prices when the food is good; when it's bad, even thought it's underpriced, I'll complain, end of story. Like I said in another thread, the Host has mailed it in, they did so a long time ago, so glad we moved out of there for Historicon, ball soup weather combined with a location that mailed it in is a recipe for disaster. |

My complaint is the staff seems very slow about the service. Stood in line for what felt like 10 minutes just to get a cup of self serve coffee. It is painful to watch them measure to the gram how much roast beef to put on the plate. Then to see a tip jar put out. |
