I noticed this pretty late, but two months back Zombiesmith released the Thanatos Stars – Krakow Mecha: link I saw this in person at KublaCon. All the Kairon Expanse miniatures are first rate, but this mecha is flat out the best mecha model I've ever seen. Lots of interesting detail, compelling overall shape. I'm guessing most mecha manufacturers are afraid of having more than two or three pieces in the model, which limits the complexity and, for lack of a better word, concavity of the piece. I can't remember how many pieces this comes in, I think it's five or seven. The result is something that looks more like an industrial machine and less like a clumsily armored humanoid. It looks like stuff bolted together to get a job done, instead of being bolted together to make injection molding easy. The human figures and ground vehicles of this line are 6mm, but of course the mecha is sort of scale-less, so this could be used with 15mm as well, it would simply be a smaller machine. If you like Mecha you should certainly look at this. |
