So sad to hear the news. Used the Sword and the Flame on and off for many years and always enjoyed them. He will live on through his rules.

I am very sad to hear of his passing.

TS&TF was a key component of my entering war gaming initially and later moving on to other rules in the quest for rules that better reflected what I was looking for in war games.

what ever my opinion of the nuts and bolts of TS&TF I acknowledge the product was like the first monoplane – an advance that never was reversed.

We have lost a great presence in our hobby with his passing.

I was about to post; I was shocked I hadn't seen an announcement on TMP. Merely my poor eyes…

Interestingly, I've never played the game, but had so much admiration for the body of work and respect it brought him, I (over, a bit)bid on some scenery auctioned for his benefit.

Hasn't seen a table; feels more like a memorial.

I do hope the money did him well in his short time left.

Rest in peace.

Doug

PS
From another post, on TSATF and Convention boards: "Dad died this morning of a heart attack. He was talking and laughing with his nurse and then he was gone. Other than being at a wargame table, rolling D-6's, this was a good way for him to go."

Just what I was hoping to hear!

I was just getting ready to write him a letter. Knew him since 1990. Great man and good friend. He truly will be missed, especially for those of us who knew him. My prayers and deepest sympathies to Lori and Christy.

Rest in peace, Larry. Until we meet again. I know George
Carr will be glad to see you.

There is something to be said for sudden death. Going out laughing and joking is a good way to go considering so many frightful alternatives. R.I.P.

So sad to hear this. TSATF and it's author will always have a special place in my heart. Many an awesome time was had playing TSATF with my old friends, many of whom are also gone now.

Though I never met him, I owe him some of the best moments of my gaming life. So thank you, Mr. Brom, for all the good memories.

May he rest in peace, and sincerest condolences to the Brom family.

A fine man and brother gamer, I am sad to learn this news and will always appreciate the joy his rules have brought me since 1980. Stand easy, and thank you.
