That is one maneuverable bomber. A pity to see them retired. |

Have seen Vulcans many a time. They fly like a fighter. They regularly stuffed the B52s in joint exercises, so I'm told. They are all museum items now. |

Heh! :) Jim, They did indeed… As did the Buccaneers… :) Mako, Vulcans have been retired from RAF service since 1988 or thereabouts. This one got flying again five years ago after a massive fundraising campaign, but it's now being finally grounded. |

I remember seeing film of Buccaneers flying at nap of earth on a wingtip down canyons in the Red Flag exercises (in Arizona, I think) |

And for all that "stuffing" the Vulcan is kaput while the BUF soldiers on and on. |

Yes, I know, but it is still a pity. I remember in 1982, when they were having to pull parts off museum birds for the fight in the Falklands. |

60/70's military aircraft were just better! US Navy aircraft with lovely colour schemes. US Airforce with century series fighters, B52's, A1 Skyraider and even the Brits had world class aircraft like the Bucaneer, Lightning, Hunter and Canberra. |

In the 1950s and 1960s, the Brits designed the prettiest aircraft. Buccaneer is one beautiful bird, and so was the TSR.2. In the 1970s and 1980s, the Russians started building pretty birds (MiG29, Su27). Now? Nobody builds pretty anymore. |
