DOH! They talk about the rules, but you are correct. The pledge levels do not specify rules. I imagine that is just an oversight. I brought it up to them in the comments section. Xin |

The rules come with the armies. It says so right in the pictures of the starter armies. |

Thanks Pictors. I read all the text, or most of it. Didn't scan the pics. Xin |

I thought I remember reading that the rules were going to be a free download as well? |

The rules are free and come soft printed The hardback version is a stretch goal. |

Slightly underwhelmed. Anyone that knows me knows I'm a huge 15mm Fantasy fan (and maybe that's the problem). I've been looking forward to this KS for a while but see nothing to get excited about. Initial thoughts; - Generic tropes for armies. No surprises there. - sculpts look good but there is better out there. Not blown away by the pricing. (Pretty Sure those werewolves are BLUE MOON link - armies are very 'similar'. Read HOTT approach. - Silly typos that should not make it to this stage - That "Crush of Iron" voice over on the video should be removed immediately! ;-) Overall, it will suit an entry-level newbie to 15mm and mass battles just fine. For old fuddies like me, nah. Roll on the Stretch goals and I might get interested. Oh, and I didn't like; "We will do everything within our power to get you your rewards in a timely manner, you may not receive your rewards before the product is available for worldwide distribution. We hope that the special price and Free stretch goals will make up for this!" But the UK/Europe distribution is good. |

Regards rules, it says 'Starter Rules' are included with your army (at one point referred to as 'Basic Rules'). Interpret that as you will. |

The price is a little on the high side. If you were to order 57 infantry and 8 Cav from Eureka (which has great figures) it would be about $42 USD before shipping. This is $60.00 USD but it includes dice, rules and counters. I will keep an eye on this though, because it does look interesting. |

"That "Crush of Iron" voice over on the video should be removed immediately! ;-)" That was my first thought on seeing the videos too :) |

Their last kickstarter took forever to complete and came in 3 different time periods. Also you could get it in the stores before I got it. They also talk about it not being character driven like warhammer, yet there are like 8 or so characters you can have inside a unit. Not a big fan of rolling dice for every figure in a unit for combat. Nor having to roll off saves on every hit. To be honest the whole rules systems just seemed like something a 12 year old might be happy with. Better rules out there. I will wait and see what happens, but I think they are trying to get a jump on Warhammer players that are unhappy with Sigmar. |

If you are starting in 15mm fantasy it is not bad. With the shipping removed the prices seem OK, but they dont seem to be offering anything that is different to what is already on the market. Maybe they will surprise us with the Stretch Goals. |

The one thing that I am seeing that I like is that they have a lot of variant poses in each line. That is a good thing. |

Yeah, I was looking forward to this, but I can't say that I am too impressed. There are already very good lines of 15mm out there that are similar in style to these ones, as good or better sculpting and pricing, and better variety…not sure what sets these apart. I'd would have liked to see something more original. |

Regardless of the content, I simply won't support anything AD does after the AQOTMF fiasco. |

I was a buy-in until I saw the "Orc Air Force". These are some of the dumbest looking miniatures I have seen in a long time, in my opinion. |
Old Glory | 08 Nov 2015 10:21 p.m. PST |
Just out of curiosity SCAdian, what constitutes a dumb miniature in a fantasy world and why would one offending figure make you buy out of an entire range? Regards, Russ Dunaway |
SCAdian | 11 Nov 2015 4:13 p.m. PST |
I was already wavering on continuing support of the game due to several factors: The sculpting is okay(ish) but definitely not as good as some. As Doug Redshirt said: "They also talk about it not being character driven like warhammer, yet there are like 8 or so characters you can have inside a unit." Pricing seems a bit much as well. The previous kickstarter issues… So, it wasn't exactly one offending figure that made me pull it, I just used a bad choice of words. As to what constitutes a "dumb looking miniature" in a fantasy game: I would have to say the Orc Air Force mount constitute one. Of course, that is simply my opinion. They look cartoony and juvenile to me. I don't mind cartoony minis in some circumstances (I happen to like Flintloque for example) but in this case they just jar on my senses… like a wyverny Jar Jar. If I am going to drop $180 USD plus, I decided my money would be better spent on the Demonworld line or Splintered Light's Undead that I just bought a large assortment of. |
Old Glory | 11 Nov 2015 6:48 p.m. PST |
Splinterd Light do make a wonderful line of miniatures for sure. I personally love the orc airforce as it was something different. I guess to each his own. It seems the miniature company does have that dilemma …… make something the same over and over or take a chance and attempt to make something new and interesting. As far as the miniatures are concerned, I Have veiwed them first hand and they look really good to me and the amount of varients are unmatched by anyone out there. It pushs my imagination that any orc, goblin, etc. Is found cartoonish over another? Regards Russ Dunaway |

I was a backer and am sorry to see this one canceled. Hopefully, it will reboot or become available some other way. Love the idea of new 15mm fantasy out there. David Splinteredlightminis.com |
SCAdian | 11 Nov 2015 8:53 p.m. PST |
Well… Huh… It was still "live" earlier when I posted… As for "cartoonish": I would say that GW's Lord of the Rings fall into the non-cartoonish look while a good few of Alternative Armies Orcs do look cartoonish yet still seem to capture the 'feel' that the game was going for. Again, my opinion and my opinion only. Your mileage may vary of course. Me, I vote with my money. If I like it, I'll buy it. I have several hundred dollars worth of Demonworld minis and just dropped another several hundred taking advantage of Splintered Light's sale. Definitely worth my money. To me. @ Splintered light: Any ideas in the pipeline for more Undead Artillery? Your Skeleton Catapult and Death Wheel just don't quite get it for me at this time. I do wish I had gotten a Skeleton Mammoth (or two) though. |
Logain | 12 Nov 2015 4:41 p.m. PST |
Well maybe it will be back in another form. I'd like to see something a little different then what's already on the market, there just isn't anything to set it apart. |

I almost went in on this one – until I saw what they did with All Quiet on the Martin Front. Once I saw what a mess that was I realized this was possibly an attempt to fund the rest of All Quiet. |
