Hello! I am a long time reader, but first time poster. I am working on developing a miniature war game based on the idea of being the commander of a single Armored Fighting Vehicle and having to issue orders to "npc" crew members to drive the action. The game will have relatively simple mechanics and have a large focus on tactical game play. My question is if there is something like this already out there. I'm rather enjoying the idea I have going and would like to make sure it is original before putting more work into it. If you guys can think of anything that fits this description let me know. Thanks! -Chris P.s. I am a new member so it seems there is a 3 day waiting period for me to actually post on a topic. I will reply to any posts ASAP |

Patton's Best was an old board wargame that did something like that: link |

Definitely look at Patton's Best. I played that a lot and it was always a good time. |

I have seen several groups modify Battletech and Car Wars rules to use for Modern and World War twoo. Most were simple and fast play. That has been more than a decade or two ago. They were done when the World War One Aviation flip book were popular. |

I'll second (3rd, 4th, 5th?) the idea to look at Patton's Best. I liked the links in LesCM19's post too. |

Finally able to post! Thanks for the links. Those seem like good game ideas, but not what I have in mind luckily. The game I'm working on will be set in a post apocalyptic world with limited resources, so there are very limited numbers of fighting vehicles available. The players will have a control of a character that is the tank commander, and will have to issue orders to named NPC crewman for any actions outside of their direct control. The game will be played with 28mm scale tanks and have very detailed, yet simplistic/streamlined mechanics. Does that ring any more bells, or am I still in the clear? |

Beer And Pretzel Skirmish (BAPS) by Buck Surdu is both an infantry and vehicle skirmish game. The vehicle rules work on a basis similar to what you seem to be talking about. About two-thirds of the way down his blog page: link |
