My own choice would be the GNW. Danes, Swedes, Saxons, Poles, Russians and Ottomans available. Danes with their straw coloured guards and violet artillery. Augustus the Strong leading the Saxons (and later King of Poland). Charles XII & Peter thrown in. |

I have no intrest in Spain or Italy but I'll admit that problebly because I know little of these theaters and would problebly game atleast the italian parts if I knew more about it. So of those 3 GNW easly for me. |

Spain.. I mean it is not every day an Englishman is in charge of a French/Spanish army, and a Frenchman is in charge of an English/ Dutch one! |

We went with GNW first and then into WSS |

My favorite is GNW but I would definitely play in a game of any theatre of the WSS. |

the French wore 50 shades of grey.. (!) the rest could be quite colourful, and yes playing WSS without Spain seems odd. |

I was planning to do Italy as 1 – I am italian 2 – I have a lot of info and interest in the great siege of Torino and 3 – I wanted to play with il Principe Eugenio di Savoia. After much study I realized that the uniforms of all involved – french, savoiardi, imperials – were all the same white/greysh/gray.. So I had to abandon the idea |

I can't handle all the white/grey. I have to do the Netherlands/Bavaria theater. |

Although grey/white was the primary uniform color of the major powers (France, Holland, Spain & Austria), most of these armies included many regiments in red and blue. Spain was probably the most colorful at the beginning of the WSS, with some regiments in purple, yellow, & green uniforms. In addition, the basic uniform of the WSS is usually the easiest musket period to paint and in many ways the most colorful. Large cuffs, no turnbacks & lapels, and little extra equipment are all blessings |

Delbruck, the red and blue units were also in service of savoy in fact, they were the swiss regiments. However the rest of the army was greysh. So I would have had two whitish/greysh armies with some red and blue… I am thinking about the the Flanders instead Queen, the best website for info on the savoy side that I know is Bandiere sabaude, which has regiments, flags uniforms and history. Otherwhise I only have books and stuff |

Spanish uniforms changed during the war. They became more French as the war went on. At the beginning of the war the uniforms may have been very old fashioned. The older regiments usually went by their uniform color: The "Old Reds" or the "Old Greens". Below is a picture of Spanish from North Star's Phoenix (1672) range:
These type of uniforms may have been anachronistic IN 1700, but as I said the Spanish were very old fashioned. Personally, I would use some creativity when constructing Spanish armies of the WSS. Floppy hats, a few pikes, and the original uniform colors makes them more interesting. Examples of early war uniform colors:

Why not simply the Flanders battlefield and campaigns. It has all you want. |

Most of the fighting in the field in Spain occurred after 1706. Most Spanish infantry was in white after that date, but there were notable exception, such as the Spanish and Walloon Guards. That said, if I were starting a new WSS army, it would be for the Spanish theater. In any event, you can use English, Dutch, French and some others for both Flanders and Spain. |

QC, that wasn't an issue in yourquestion. But I have never seen Spanish troops, skimishing troops, raiding battle, siege etc in a wargame in Flanders |
