The inspirational Ottoman hero, Osman Pasha, leads the Plenva garrison in a risky, dramatic, highly successful (but utterly historically inaccurate!) break-out from the besieged town in this Russo-Turkish War scenario. The Russians sat tight waiting on their reserves to plug the break through gap. Unfortunately the reserves either didn't arrive or arrived in the wrong place.

Very nice. What rules did you use? |

Nice figures! I particularly like the Russian Orthodox religious procession. Grelber |

Hi there, Rules – a heavily amended version of Black Powder. So heavily amended that you'd barely recognise them. Religious Procession – Russians usually perform better with some spiritual support! |

May I ask what figs are these? |
agplumer | 04 Nov 2015 12:39 p.m. PST |
Are they 1/72? I saw some ESCI/Italeri French Foreign Legionaries that I'm using s Russians for my on again off again Conquest of Central Asia project. |

There is an excellent range of 28mm figs via Outpost Wargames Service |

I'd say 90% of the figures are 1/72 Strelets. Strelets produce a dedicated range for the RTW. For the Russians I use the RTW range along with some Strelets Crimea war figs and a few ESCI French Foreign Legion with the neck protectors attached to their kepis. The Russian Guard Hussars are Strelets WWI cavalry and the Guard infantry are HAT WWI Russians – each with an appropriate ‘paint job conversion'.
Hello aplumer – I'd be interested to hear or see photos of how you got on with the Central Asian Project. I looked into it as well but apart from a few snippets regarding the ‘Storming of Tashkent', couldn't find enough historical material on the subject. The Russians look cool in this era and the whole central Asian thing is very exotic.

You may also want to get a copy of: CENTRAL ASIA AND THE HIMALAYAN KINGDOMS (Armies of the Nineteenth Century-Asia) link There is a tremendous amount of information and illustrations of the various armies. The bibliography is top notch. Thanks, Andrew |
