I've got some Tumbling Dice ironclads – lovely models – but they have battle sails set. Great for action under sail, but ideally I'd like furled sails to reflect contemporary prints – I know sail was used occasionally but mostly to try and disengage or outrun.

My question is has anyone ever tried finishing these ships with furled sails or bare spares? How easy is it to do? Got any photos? How do you fit the furled sails sold as accessories?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

I used bits of paper clip cut to length. I roughed them up a bit with a metal file before super gluing them in place. Brass rod may be better. Quite effective along with some basic rigging done with paint brush bristles. No photos sorry.

I think Tumbling Dice sells separate packs of curled sails?

Ayup fellas

Thanks McKinstry – Yes, I do have a pack of the furled sails but they don't look quite right – they stand a bit too proud and have odd loops on them.

Bulldog – nice idea re paper clips. looking at photos the sails are not really visible (whether they're bare spars or just really tightly furled I can't figure) so I reckon I'll give the paper clip idea a go.

Finally got round to adding spars using paperclips – thanks for the tip Bulldog.
