Rough stuff from a Russian POV. Not a combat film but a great one nonetheless.

Here's the trailer: YouTube link

Am I the last one to have already seen this?

An extremely powerful and haunting movie; I've only been able to watch it the once (so far).

Really good film, apparently some parts were filmed on Russian army training areas (hence the realistic tracer) Occasionally spoiled by 80's surrealism, but overall a horrific account of Nazi brutality.

It's a classic of sorts.

I found it to be awful. No dis-respect to those who found it great/scary etc… Please do not be offended. The uniforms were very odd as were the vehicles. That FW 189 ! Story was a bit thin. Gave my copy away!

I saw it in theater when it came out. I agree with martin goddard and add – very "artsy fartsy". I think that because of the subject, the nazi atrocities, people have problems critisizing it as a film.

Worth watching, but for me only once.

One of the great films about the Eastern Front, and an interesting contrast to the "stubble in the rubble" genre of Stalingrad etc. I rather enjoyed the imagery and allegory, very Russian.

But each to their own:)

It's a Slow Loris.

That thing? On the guy's shoulder?

Slow Loris.

Quite a good film, unusual for Soviet era in its anti-war stance. No more "artsy" than Apocalypse Now imho….but yes, it is not a traditional war film and is very hard to watch in some places b/c of the psychological horror more than the visual.
