"Marie Marvingt was born on February 20, 1875, at Aurillac, France. A world class athlete she won winning numerous prizes in swimming, fencing, shooting, ski-jumping, skating, bobsled especially dominating the 1908-1910 seasons at Chamonix France, where she won more than 20 first place awards. She was a world class mountain climber and between 1903-1910 was the first woman to climb most of the peaks of the French and Swiss Alps. The French Academy of Sports gave her a medal in March 1910 "for all sports" (the only one they ever gave for more than one sport)…" Full history here link Amicalement Armand |

So, who will make an appropriate sculpt (or two or three) of this remarkable woman? And why not also Hariet Quimby, the FIRST woman to receive a Pilot's License and the first to fly the English Channel? She was also quite the beauty, and famous for her plumb colored leather flight suits. Unlike Marie, however, Hariet died very young when pitched from her aircraft, breaking her back falling into the sea. Such pioneers NEED to be memorialized for Role Playing Games! TVAG |
