I went here to see how the discussion went on Dropfleet Commander and there's not even a post about it! :D DfC is an upcoming orbital combat game from Hawk Wargames and takes place in the same universe as 10mm game Dropzone Commander. It's designed by Andy Chambers and is focused on fighting above a planet, trying to drop troops into cities (or destroy them through orbital bombardment!). There are three levels of battle – high orbit, low orbit and atmospheric – and the smaller, more aerodynamic strike carriers need to go atmospheric to deploy their cargo of troops onto the surface. Larger ships are not aerodynamic at all and will desintegrate if their orbit decay because of a critical hit to engines etc. The massive support has taken Hawk Wargames by surprise and they're currently updating their stretch goals etc. As far as I can tell (after a quick look at top funded KS tabletop games) Dropfleet seems to have taken the record when it comes to first day funding for a miniature game. Pretty neat! Here's the link to the actual kickstarter: link Here's a link the the first of several videos showing how the game plays: link And here are some images of some of the different configurations you can build with the plastic starter sets.

That was pretty weird. TMP scooped by LAF on a spaceship game. Admittedly, I've mixed feelings, so I didn't post it on here. Obviously, many failed to share those feelings. ;->= Doug |

I need to relook at this I wasn't impressed with the kick starter there is only a few choices to pledge the big one is already gone and the Captain pledge is $163 USD the only thing from the pledge under this is a $50 USD ship no free add ons did I miss something? Will check it out again ships look cool though. |

Unless I'm reading it wrong, the difference between Commander and Captain is that the Captain pledge gets you two(2) copies of the starter set and the Kickstarter exclusive UCM Battlecruiser Atlantis. So your actually getting the second starter at a reduced price and the Battlecruiser for free. |

Exactly. Plus you can always enter at the minimum level and buy 'bolt-ons' to tailor your pledge to exactly what you need. |
