The next non-square rigged vessel I built is Langton's chasse-maree lugger. An interesting appearance but the lugger sails just look weird to me. This little boat has only eight guns.

I like color of sails, great work, Vol!

Great work! I second the comment about the sail colour; they look good.

Supposedly luggers were great favourites of smugglers and privateers, as they could sail much closer to the wind than any naval vessel. Even the pirates from Treasure Island sailed in a lugger! Alas, Hollywood has given us the much-less-plausible pirate ship instead.

Quite true. The lugger rig was also fast (something a privateer would need). IIRC, it was a bear to handle and required a crew with a good degree of skill.

Vol, very nicely done! One of my favorite ship types. Doesn't get much exposure in game rules, though (I know POST CAPTAIN features them and I think they show up in one or two other rules sets as well. But that's about it).

A great looking model Vol! I know what you mean about the lug sails looking weird, it is definitely an exotic look. You did a great job with it, and with all those xebecs and feluccas running around you will have some very diverse looking seas indeed.
