@Terrement – IIRC both Gruntz (for platoon-level) and Strike Legion have rules that could cover the hive mind and things like pheromones/chemical signals, by repurposing some of the hacking or nanotech rules.

Phase IV is a great 70's SF film. What is so amazing was that it was done with actual super-intelligent ants. They were also good actors!

Ants also live in symbiosis with a lot of other life forms for their mutual benefit. I've always wondered about alien insects that have opened their hive to humans.
