Lore wise, can anyone tell me what's happened to the Old World? Is anyone left alive, or was it completely destroyed? I haven't played for years, but read a lot of warhammer books (Gotrek and Felix mostly), and am interested in what happened. |

World destroyed. Most everyone dead, except for some special characters that were turned into "incarnates" and are now the equivalent of gods. Among them (off the top of my head) are Teclis, Tyrion, and Malekith. Also some of the old gods filtered over as well, like Grungi (IIRC) and Gork & Mork (now called Gorkamorka as they have merged), Nagash, a few others I might be forgetting. Also Sigmar, who is now the top dude in the hierarchy… Damon. |

So everyone else who lived in the world are dead then. That's a shame and brave move. Thanks for the information. |

Loving it. Played Warhammer since mid 90's and the fiction had stagnated – except for Storm of Chaos, which was amazing, but then it got retconned. Glad that it's gone… all my favorite Warhammer fiction still lives on in all of my Warhammer role playing books, and now I get this amazing over the top Saturday Morning Cartoon that is Age of Sigmar and it's balls to the wall entertaining. |

So everyone else who lived in the world are dead then. That is GW for you. Could also be just a dream. Tell that to the Squats. |

Imagine the basic generic fantasy world, the kind you'd find in a hundred post-tolkien trilogies: Elves are snooty and good with bows, dwarves are hard drinkers and don't like elves, humans generally suck but pretty much rule everything, etc. Now imagine the story of this world winding up to the standard-issue 'epic final battle between the forces of good and evil'…and the good guys lose. Not just lose, lose HARD CORE. The gods of evil destroy the world, kill (almost) everyone in it and then essentially say "That was fun, who wants a curry?" and wander off…What they had failed to notice was that one of this worlds gods was still (barely) alive in the void, and in his hand was literally the spark of creation… |

…Sounds like what happened after the original management sell-out by Priestley et al. |
Rick Priestley | 30 Oct 2015 3:23 a.m. PST |
Nothing to do with me mate! Management sell-out or AoS! I was just a games designer when the original owners sold – I've never owned any portion of GW other than the (very modest) share options I had later on. The old Warhammer background was indeed a portmanteau affair cobbled together out of the D&D ranges Citadel sold at the time – but none of us involved in its creation – me, Tony Ackland and Richard Halliwell mostly – had any reason to think it would go on to form the basis for GW's intellectual property for nearly thirty years. Had we known that we might have put in fewer – oh gosh it's TMP so who knows how to say this – gags on the subject of gentlemen's parts. I don't think we knew what intellectual property was at the time. Nor for quite some time after come to think of it. |

TMP being Rick'Rolled by the Priestly is the coolest thing I've seen all week. |

Rick, thanks for throwing a reality check at the gripers :) To much negativity and not enough fun from this lot. |

Don't worry Rick no sane gamers hold you responsible (or understand why so many people can't let it go or adapt). Sadly there are few sane gamers (especially amongst those who only play GW and lurk on the net). More importantly: What can I use my 30 year old collection of squats as in BtGoA? (I never specified my own sanity). |

Hey Rick, how do we get in contact with you? I had a question about the old GW days and other sundries. |
