Hi All, I realize that I'm one of the last people on earth playing LOTOW. My group has been playing it off and on for 10 years and have always loved the game. In fact, we are just starting a four-player campaign in a couple of weeks. In preparation, I've been painting some of Foundry's mounted cowboys (the ones with the mounted and dismounted figure in the same pack). I've played a few games with the horses and here are my thoughts: I have four mounted figures. Currently, I've been using them as my Heroes. However, I've noticed that, when I start my official Cowboy posse, that henchmen start with very cheap horses ($12) and I'm starting to wonder if I should be mounting up the henchmen instead of the heroes? Ideally, I would have enough mounted models to mount the entire posse, but that's not the case. Any experience with this? |

I had one mounted figure but do not think I used him mounted more than once. The horses soak up too many points for a start up gang (IMHO). I'd suggest adding them when you get reward money. I would think having a hero mounted on a horse would be better as he can fight alone and survive wounds better than Henchmen. I'd love to get my gangs out again for a campaign. |

I'm inclined to agree with you. I'm in the process of painting up the third mounted figure now. The current plan is to field the entire cowboy posse on foot and to bring the horses on as I earn the money. This will also be the first time I'll be playing a Cowboy posse – been playing Lawmen for the past 10 years. Looking forward to fielding all of those repeating rifles! |
