Thanks to Tom for running a very entertaining event! I'm sure that it won't come as a shock to say that WRG/DBx tournaments (or any wargame tournament) have a reputation for sometimes being hyper competitive and maybe not the friendliest environments. Tom's event was friendly, well organized, and great fun. Where many tournaments are defined by dour men bent over tables in intense concentration and virtual silence, GBU ATL featured cheers and out loud belly laughs! Players were friendly, cheerful, and generous to one another which reflects Tom's approach to gaming. I'm proud to say that despite being a DBx amateur I did manage to lose just two elements over the course of three matches going 3-0 with my "Death from Above" army. Woohoo! Much better than last year when I went 0-3. :-) Phil is lucky to have such an advocate for DBX, well done Tom! |

Results from the Atlanta Leg of The Good The Bad and The Ugly Tournament. Player Army Alignment Points Dave Crowder Night Watch Good 52 Tim O'Conner Death From Above Good 51 Thomas E. Thomas Light of Sunspear Bad 25 Stephan Crowder Starks of Winterfell Good 24 Sydney Emerson Fun Dead Bad 20 Robert Wright Goblins Galore Bad 8 Played using D3H2 (DBA 3.0 + Hordes of the Things 2.0). Held at Wasteland Games, Duluth, Georgia. A fun event which included a wide variety of troop types including everything from an Aerial Hero and accompanying Dragon to a mass of lowly Goblin Hordes. As Dragons are a rare sight in conventional HOTT it was great to see this icon of fantasy literature flying about the table and managing a second place finish (D3H2 is a bit kinder to Dragons then conventional HOTT). A Vampire Hero did manage to kill the Dragon and so earned our first Dragon Slayer award. The combination of a Knight riding a Pegasus and a Green Dragon did earn "Death from Above" the best themed Army award. All players got a Barker Marker made from the custom two sided Good Bad and Ugly figure. A big thanks to Wasteland Games for hosting the event and all the players for making this such a great event to run. Already looking forward to next year. Thomas J. Thomas |
