While looking over Kallista's website for 10mm Mid-Evil I ran across an armored war wagon listed. I have not seen any drawings of these in Mid-Evil Warfare books so I was wondering how these were use in combat? Were they mobile armored platforms used to break up infantry formations with archers or crossbow men mounted?( Much like modern day tanks or APC's) Or were they stationary armored platforms to protect the archers or crossbow men? I look forward to your replies.

Mid-Evil

Mid-Evil??? I've never heard it called that before…

It was basically a horse drawn wagon with boarded sides so that archers inside had some protection. Whether they moved much on the battlefield is anybody's guess, however they probably would not constitute a stable shooting platform whilst in motion.

Mid-Evil is right up there with WW11 as my favourite periods. :)

I suppose you are referring to the Hussite sort of war wagons?

I believe they formed laagers, which were quite stout against enemy cavalry and ales of arrows.
