I've pulled together a bunch of terrain for my Omaha Beach project for an upcoming convention. I was able to source a bunch of the different obstacles you'd see on a beach in Normandie … links and pictures on my blog: link I'm using the Terrain Mats Omaha mat for the basis of my board … link More pictures and links up on the blog. Regards, Jay |

Great stuff. Something I'd love to do but with many ' WIP' projects in the endless queue. Inspiring, look forward to seeing more. |

Thanks all … I'll keep this thread up to date as I make more progress … hoping to get this done in relatively short order. |

Awesome, I played in a game at Cold Wars last year along these lines and they used similar bits. What rules will you use? |

Will use Bolt Action … keeps things moving along quickly … and with some scenario rules can be very playable and enjoyable … it hasn't let me down yet on the convention circuit :-) |

An ambitious project to do in 28 mm and I commend you sir. I may be doing something about as ambitious later next year as I am been going over the Skirmish Campaign Source Book for Heroes of Omaha and Panzer Lehr. While most of the scenarios are designed for 15 mm I have always wanted to do a number of them in 28 mm as a convention game as you will need a large table area. I have lots of bocage making in my future as well as acquiring a number of vehicles of different types. I am considering using Bolt Action because of easy and speed of play. Although my favorite WW II rule set right now is the Battlegroup series of books. Please post as the project advances. |

The game I was in used mostly West Wind Berlin or Bust minis. Here is a snap of the left flank from the defender's viewpoint:
IIRC, we used a heavily modified version of Disposable Heros (but my memory may be faulty). I was the German center and had a Nebelwerfer in the backfield. I kept rolling very hot die to the chagrin of the allied armor. Lots of fun! |

That looks awesome! How do the Americans get up the bluff? Will you build exits? |

Maybe a bit late to be of any use but I only came across the following absolutly magnificent website about Omaha beach last night whilst oddly enough searching for items on the Dieppe raid, Operation Jubilee. Having visited Omaha beach a couple of years back, I find this website the most facinating that I have ever found related to any of the D Day landings beaches and the information on it is enough to replicate the whole landing or skirmishes for strongpoints etc. Hope you find it as good as I do. Its all in French, but using Google translate by copying and pasting its not a chore to read up on it all. Looking at the scenery you have already created, you may need to amend it a bit. link |
