I bought in to the Robotech Kickstarter and while sad that things are where they are I really enjoy the rules. I also have Alpha Strike but find that I prefer the RRT Rules. So I took them and did some re-writing and got rid of the need to build entire squadrons and then started on making unit costs for individual units. Now I'm working on converting all the Battletech mechs over using a spreadsheet that I made.

You can find this information here…

I'll update as things progress. I already have the 3039 mechs converted and am working on 3050.

I figure that if I have to wait on Robotech stuff I might as well make good use of the Battletech minis collection that I've had since I was 12 or so.

Whats going on with Robotech?

Somebody (lots of somebodies, actually) made the mistake of paying Kevin Siembieda in advance, in spite of a reputation that he built over decades and numerous warnings to that effect.

If we have to wait then I figure to make the best with what I have. I have a full regiment of Battlemechs and a ton of CAV minis so I might as well convert those over and use those.

Chuck05,

Palladium delivered the first wave of miniatures and the main box set with rules. They were delivered 1 year plus a couple of months late from the promised delivery of Dec 2013.

The second wave of miniatures have been on hold for redesign and other "issues".

Backers gnashing their teeth because of lack of updates on what is happening with Wave 2 and some deflection from Palladium.

Taking Palladium the company (and people's opinion on them) out of the equation, the kickstarter has been pretty much on par with other kickstarters.

Complaints have been:
- unclear rules
- badly tested point system
- high piece count for some models
- very small fragile parts
- placement of pieces on the sprues
- bad seams, misaligned parts

Now add Palladium's reputation…

I don't see the "unclear" rules part. I think they're pretty solid from the games I've played.

The points system is 'meh' to me. I don't use them, don't like them, don't need them.

The miniatures comments are only true, IMO, for the UEDF units. The Zentraedi units are just fine IMO. Well, except for the chin guns for the Officer's Pod which are very small and fragile.

I haven't seen the bad seams and misaligned parts. But then again, I'm a gamer and things like that don't stick out unless it's serious… but hey, I'm a guy who still games with Battletech 3rd Edition plastics which were, and still are, some of the worst figures I've ever had to deal with. Compared to those the RPG Battles game pieces are a dream. It's just the zillion pieces on the UEDF mecha that are a pain.

Good thing I only play with a few units!!

But yeah, the game rules are very solid and very fun IMO. I'll happily play with them. I think the Robotech rules are an excellent fit for quick playing games of Battletech. My only concern would be weapon use.

In RPG Battles you can only activate one weapon system when you use a unit. However in BT you get to fire everything on the mech for free. That could be an issue. It's an easy fix though.

Otherwise I think it's a great idea. I totally use my RPG Battles mecha for old 3025 games and I love how they look on the field. I just wish I could find a good Marauder proxy!!!! It's one of my favorite mechs and my 3rd Edition plastic piece is a real piece of …. grrrrr…

picture

Check out that fault line of a seam right under the top autocannon. The two pieces just don't line up and you have have to clip one of the two tabs to get the blasted thing together and it STILL doesn't line up properly. GRRRRR…

What I would give for a good Marauder model in scale with the other mechs!

Tgunner….I redid the points system ages ago with a balanced one of my own. The PB one is not bad but the Phalanx is way too cheap and the Heavy Artillery Pods way too expensive so I made my own stat cards for them with balanced costs. You can find them in the facebook group.

I also made the Skirmish set of rules so that people can buy units on a one to one basis and not based on squadrons.

rules are a bit unclear but just on how Close Formation works, the rest is well done.

as mentioned, only artillery was really off on costs. I think that the cool factor overroad common sense on that but I've fixed that for myself.

all the rest has to do with the minis themselves…..

Here are the redone RRT cards

Here are the RRT rules redone. I call it Skirmish. You can buy individual units here and also do Battletech crossovers

Morpheus1975, you forgot about Blast with Volley, which has just been amended.

Morpheus197527 Oct 2015 1:37 p.m. PST

LOL, I helped amend those rules..

are you referring to how it will effect the unit costs or the new blast rules in Skirmish itself?

Morpheus197502 Nov 2015 2:52 p.m. PST
