I don't see the "unclear" rules part. I think they're pretty solid from the games I've played.
The points system is 'meh' to me. I don't use them, don't like them, don't need them.
The miniatures comments are only true, IMO, for the UEDF units. The Zentraedi units are just fine IMO. Well, except for the chin guns for the Officer's Pod which are very small and fragile.
I haven't seen the bad seams and misaligned parts. But then again, I'm a gamer and things like that don't stick out unless it's serious… but hey, I'm a guy who still games with Battletech 3rd Edition plastics which were, and still are, some of the worst figures I've ever had to deal with. Compared to those the RPG Battles game pieces are a dream. It's just the zillion pieces on the UEDF mecha that are a pain.
Good thing I only play with a few units!!
But yeah, the game rules are very solid and very fun IMO. I'll happily play with them. I think the Robotech rules are an excellent fit for quick playing games of Battletech. My only concern would be weapon use.
In RPG Battles you can only activate one weapon system when you use a unit. However in BT you get to fire everything on the mech for free. That could be an issue. It's an easy fix though.
Otherwise I think it's a great idea. I totally use my RPG Battles mecha for old 3025 games and I love how they look on the field. I just wish I could find a good Marauder proxy!!!! It's one of my favorite mechs and my 3rd Edition plastic piece is a real piece of …. grrrrr…
Check out that fault line of a seam right under the top autocannon. The two pieces just don't line up and you have have to clip one of the two tabs to get the blasted thing together and it STILL doesn't line up properly. GRRRRR…
What I would give for a good Marauder model in scale with the other mechs!
