Which rules would you suggest for the 1917-18 campaign in Palestine ? I assume 1 base per co, with several figures on it. 1/72 would be the ideal scale. TIA. Pete |

I have used both Great War Spearhead and Square Bashing for Palestine. Both use 1 base = 1 company, and htey work firne for 20mm (and 15mm and 6mm). GWSH had a better feel for the more open warfare. At a higher level I've also done 1st and 2nd Gaza with OP14, but that is aimed at multiple Corps/Armies. Some years ago I wrote a Fire Fury variant to cover the 1914 campaign in Egypt, 1 base = two companies, brigade sized manouvre units. That was OK but probably nto so good for 1917-18. |

Hi Guthroth Have a look at If The Lord Spares Us by the Too Fat Lardies. May be a lower level than you want (brigade level):- eg "British/Empire Infantry Battalion: Four companies each of 4 bases One Battalion HQ (1 base)" link Also at a lower level is Red Actions (specifically for the RCW but easily used for Palestine) link But both are good sets of rules. For a set of rules at a higher level (one stand = one battalion)see PDF link Cheers GrumpyOldMan |

If the Lord Spares us (or inevitably ITLSU) is a great set of rules. |

There are some photographs of a Great War Spearhead replay of the First Battle of Gaza here: link The game was put on by the Southend Wargames club, utilising 15mm figures – a combination of Minifigs and Peter Pig. The cactus hedges were particularly effective. No miniatures were hurt during the game, at least not by hedges. Robert |
