Hi there I am new to Battletech but would like to build a Chaos Irregulars force (and other mercenary units) and would like to know where I would find info as to what Mechs would be needed for what time period. I cant seem find this information… this is probably due to poor computer skills… but help would be much appreciated.. thanks |

Yep, you're going to want to stop at the MUL. That said, starting with 3025 era mechs is never a bad idea; refits of these designs serve well up into the 3080's and beyond…. -Will |

Thanks for the help. I have a paper copy of the unit list and this makes it much easier. but… is there a document that has specific information on company make up.. so if I wanted to create 2/3 lances for the chaos irregulars I should use 1x 1y 1z.. It may sound odd but is composition fluid? could a lance be comprised of any variant? as long as it fits time period. |

Yes, while the Successor States stuck to the Lance/Company/Battalion structure, what was IN each Lance is incredibly fluid. I'm not really familiar with the Chaos Irregulars, but if you want to know *exactly* which mechs they had on a given day, you'll probably need to find a scenario, and even then that will cover that composition for a specific snapshot in time. The other place to look would probably be the book Mercenaries Supplemental Update; you'll get a better idea of what of stuff they might have fielded. But again probably not a complete list. -Will |

Thanks Will I will search the scenario books for some ideas, and try to pick up the mercenary books … Until then the irregulars will be irregular… |

The bottom line in Battletech is field the mechs you like to play and invent a reason for why your unit has them later. :) -Will |
