1/56 (28mm) Digital Test Sculpt

After summarizing comments and feedback from our fans, here is the 2nd version of our Digital Test Sculpt.
The size and proportion is an "in-between" Perry's and the generic wargaming figures.
We would like to create something that is (close to) anatomically correct, yet easy to paint and being able to be tough enough to handle on the gaming table.

Here is a familiar face… we certainly hope so
Our 3rd digital test sculpt with a more dynamic pose, incorporating more feedback from our fans on social media!

How about an American GI for a change?

This is still a WIP project. We will not go into production until we get our scaling and proportion up to our standard.
C&C much appreciated!

Enjoy!

Shaping up nicely, and I really like the creasing in the uniform, but to my eye they seem a bit long of torso and short of leg – obviously some people do match those proportions, but they look atypical to me.

Doms Decals, these figures are our 2nd revision, our 3rd revision had their legs stretched proportionally. This is also the reason why we posted them here for comments.

There are many considerations when we did these figures – most importantly, they had to be able to be used along side with existing 3rd party minis. The helmet/cap became an important spotlight if a person is looking from above the tabletop; thus this particular version. After our production meeting, we have decided to lengthen the legs to make them more "anatomically correct".

Will post some revised images later on!

Thanks for the reply – have to agree that headgear is right at the top of the list of priorities – arguably even more so for smaller scales, but whatever the size, the hat is an instant distinguishing feature. [Just ask Spike Milligan and Hans Teske…. ;-) ]

For plastics, make sure that they can be easily glued down to a plastic base. A certain other manufacturer's figures keep breaking off as only one foot and a toe can reach the base.

You would need to make your weapons slightly over scale and robust, the proportional representation of weapons make them look way under sized and very fragile, I tend to swap out the really thin fragile stuff with metal weapons often for my plastics. Likewise just a touch more beefyness to hands and features otherwise they are just miniature versions of modellers figures and don't convey the robustness of gaming figures, glad you decided to not go the Perry scale and went up a bit, they were too 'in scale' and a throwback to Foundrys 28 mm, not a good move IMO but its their product not mine.
Cheers overall looking good, good luck.

Short legs.

Are there plans to do vehicle crews? I like to have my vehicles crewed.

My understanding is that at least their recent M3 halftrack kit comes with two crew members. No idea if any of their other kits come with those, though.

Sitting figures also please

Will these just be crew figures or is there a plan to produce infantry too?

Rubicon Models24 Oct 2015 6:57 p.m. PST

At this point, we have no plans to produce infantry box sets. Our aim is to set up a "standard" prototype for our figures to be incorporate into our vehicles as drivers, crew, and passengers. The current figure offering is a temporary solution.

Fred Cartwright25 Oct 2015 6:18 a.m. PST

It would be nice to be able to purchase the crew sprues separately from the vehicles.

No infantry sets? Outrageous behaviour!

When you face the inevitable, please make bayonents slightly oversize and very robust.
