Great AAR. I use FFT3 as well and have written my own higher level orders rules, but I base mine on the boardgame 'Air & Armor' that uses March, Hasty Attack and Assault missions. You assign the mission to a Formation, eg Sov Rgt. The mission assigned also determines what artillery support you can allocate to the Formation. But your AAR makes me just want to break out the dice. Good stuff. |

@BattlerBritain: I'd love to hear more about your incorporation of Air and Armor. It's one of my favourite board games. I was actually going to use it as a higher level campaign system, using it to do the higher level tactics movement, then fight any interesting battles that result on the tabletop. But I'd love to hear how you use it for your orders system?… Bish |

bishnak, that's basically what I do. I use Air+Armor and 2hr turns to allocate the missions and artillery to formations, then play it out on the tabletop. Plot missions for the Sovs and activate NATO Formations when required, just like in Air+Armor. I use FFOT3 for the tank combat on the tabletop and a 2d6 version of Panzer Blitz for Infantry combat, as I'm not keen on the FFOT3 Inf combat, but you could still use FFOT3 for that or any other rules you like to resolve the combat. Air+Armor gives the campaign context and the ranges from artillery units to where the arty lands. You could use Air+Armor for the helicopter and air support as well. Try it and see what happens! It's pretty good fun. |
