I should know this as a Norwegian, with large parts of my ansestory from Denmark(traced back to a groups of Thompsons living aroud Odense in the late 17th century) But I know little, I know Denmark supplied quite a few troops for the grand alliance during the spanish sucession. But what did they do during the other wars of the sun king? The only thing I know is they stopped useing the pike quite a bit earlier then most other countires. |

Quite a few Danish regiments were in the service of William of Orange, and served in Ireland and the continent. link |

I think so, I seem to remember some being at Neerwinden in 1693. I imagine that once they left Ireland they fought in Flanders for the rest of the war, but I'll have to check. |

Danish troops were often in mercenary service and were highly rated in terms of morale, discipline and using the most modern methods. No pikes as they emphasized firepower. |

They were also heavily involved in the Great Northern War. |
