The son of a friend of mine will be graduating from The Citadel next year and I would like to paint up a presentation piece for him. Not sure of the scale I want to work in yet but would like to do something centered around either the cadets firing on The Star of The West or maybe a vignette of Tulifinny 1864. What I'm lacking is an idea of what the uniforms for either scenario would look like and, as I want this to be a surprise, I can't grill the upcoming graduate on something this specific. I did a similar project for my friend when he graduated and I want to make this sort of a tradition. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thank you, Jim K.

PS Does anyone know how accurate the mural portrayals of these events are? That may solve everything.

This may help somewhat:

Thank you. I do have that, the mural at the top is one of the ones I mention in the PS. If that depiction is accurate I can work with that.

My Son, Michael T. Dye, won the Star of the West award in his senior year there in 1998. The second person from Band Co. in it's history. His name is on the back of the list of winners at the end of the Parade ground. I am proud he went to that school. He remains a strong alumni supporter and remains on active duty.

Please let me know what you decided upon, ssalar. i would like to do the same for him. For modern day, their dress uniforms closely resemble those of the USMA at West Point. Finding an unpainted cadet is like hen's teeth!
