Halo: Fleet Battles – The Fall of Reach has everything you need to start playing this capital ship combat miniatures game.

The biggest complaint I've heard from people who own the game is the flight stands.

The plastic is very fragile. The bases tend to crack as they are cut out of the sprues. The pegs themselves are too big for the holes and need to be "shaved" down in order to fit. This can be a problem as one of the features of the game is being able to re-base some of the ships to change what kind of formation they are in.

Are the specific type of flight stand integral to the game mechanics in some way, or could they be swapped out?

My flight stands were hit and miss. Some fit fine and others were slightly too big. I did not think they were fragile but I am used to the ones in X-wing. Those seem much more fragile to me.

The bases were a bit painful to get off the sprues, but I did not have any crack.

@Weasel I think the 're-base some of the ships to change what kind of formation they are in' means you'd have to come up with alternative multi-ship basing.

I suspect you could actually use square trays instead, but otherwise use your own bases.

IF I ever get a copy, I'll let you know. ;->=

I wonder how this game is holding up these days.
Has anyone seen or know of anyone playing this.

Yea Im a 'bit' late lol, but what the heck..

IIRC having a frigate or 2 based along w the CA or BCV respectively, DID effect the way that ship played.
Hence why the frigates were based in Sqdn's.

But I did love the look of the CA' and the Earth 'battle carrier' would have been great for conversion into one slightly larger BB. The remaing fore-aft sections could be put back together and possibly become a BC.. just a thought.

Ah, I guess this is me 'letting you know.'

The bases are formations that place ships upon in a pattern that changes the effective parameters of the group of ships. You could signify with other methods, but it's still a group on a base, with set parameters over the play of one game.

I think the larger ships still have smaller ships on their bases. I suppose I should look again, but won't promise to remember to come back.

I never got around to playing.

Same here *TheBeast.
I watched a cpl of games last year, but no one seemed really excited over it.

The biggest "issue" (IF anyone is even playing anymore):
The alien force seemed to be "too" powerful & no real weaknesses.
After watching / talking w a few players, my impression;
The earth force needs to have a 5-3 advantage in numbers for a 'real' chance to win.

On another thread, I posted a comment someone made about thier opinion of the game. It went something like this..

2 friends got together to play, one would ask:
"Do you want to play the earth force, or do you want to win?"

"Do you want to play the earth force, or do you want to win?"

Which replicates the books pretty well.

Maybe look at the Spartan Games forum and read up? Many of the players have suggestions as to how to use each force to its best potential.
