Back in December 2014 I started painting my Saracen and Crusader Armies – almost a year later 600 figures took took to the battlefield for their first battle.

We played Lion Rampant rules 92 points aside !

Great fun and over in 2 and a half hours – it fast fast furious and very bloody….

Thanks for the report. Nice armies. And all along I thought Lion Rampant didn't do large battles. Thanks

Individually based figures. Excellent.

You could try mine for comparison. Includes an actual crusades mini campaign system too. link The game design is specifically around individually based figures….

Superb post – really pleased to see it work on a bigger scale. By chance, last night I watched a YouTube video (an hour and a half long) of a game being played to understand the mechanics – those rules look very useful for a wider range of gaming tastes than I originally thought was the case. Thank you.

Hi Folks

Yes indeed we had 92 points aside…

with three versus two players aside and the game played out in 2.5 hours

The major modifier to the rules was that all units could try and activate – I appreciate that this goes against the rules but it did allow fast play.

The forces were very different – the Crusaders heavily armoured (both cavalry and foot)but few missile troops – the Saracens the other way round.

Fast play was also enable through the use of movement trays – invaluable when you have so many figures on the table.

Tactics were somewhat limited as both sides literally charged each other ;-)
