I have Sri Lanka and Tamil naval forces painted up. Also have a mixture of missile boats and frigates for Egypt and Libya (Osas, Nanuchkas, German vessels, etc.). Those aren't all painted and none based. All are for David Manley's "Bulldogs Away" rules. |

Mainly, US, UK, and Soviet, for the larger vessels, escorts, and subs. Have some US, UK, Soviet, East German, West German, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Israeli, Egyptian, and Syrian missile boats, MTBs, and other fast attack craft and targets for them. |

I started in this hobby collecting modern naval for Harpoon- Soviets and Americans, and modern (ultra modern at the time- it was 1984) Soviet and West German miniatures (my buddy bought the Americans). Since then, I've pretty much dropped out of modern naval. I don't know why, really. Would love to get back in- especially with ultra modern stuff- Russian, Chinese, American, British, French, German, Japanese, South Korean but am too busy with other stuff. Someday I will return, probably. |

Don't overlook the fun you can have with the 1950s and 1960s era vessels too. WWII era S-Boats vs. Soviet Rigas, and other destroyers, etc.. |

What rules do you guys use? |
David Manley | 20 Oct 2015 9:31 p.m. PST |
Bulldogs Away for small scale actions (and my own home brew set for the Cod War). For more "traditional" naval actions I vary between the old Dodo/Skytrex "Rules for Modern Naval Combat" (probably my favourite), Harpoon, Shipwreck or my Modern General Quarters variant which I developed or a Naval Wargames Society Falklands mini campaign. |

I keep meaning to stock up on some 1/700 FACs for some coastal action between North & South Korea and China vs Taiwan… how well does the Shipwreck rules work? |

Who actually makes norwegian or swedish ships, some of those "stealth" high speed frigates look funky. |
sjolly H4 | 31 Oct 2015 10:31 a.m. PST |
The Swedish Visby is made by Objects May Appear on Shapeways. The Norwegian Frigate Fridtjof Nansen is made by Dutch Fleets on Shapeways. I believe those are the only producers of 1/2400 scale ships that you are looking for. I would suspect that others make them in larger scales. |

My first foray into miniature gaming was modern using Harpoon I was so dissatisfied with that set of rules I sold every thing and now am thinking of getting back in to modern around the Falklands war, using Surface Battlegroup. I have moved on to WWII naval and some land gaming. |
Tgunner | 01 Nov 2015 8:13 p.m. PST |
US, Russian, and China when I get around to it. 2400 scale. |
