From Victrix… "There are only 2 images to show at present but detailed turn arounds will follow on Monday. Both armoured and unarmoured Samnites are now off to the tool room. Work will now commence on the 2 sets of Macedonian pikemen, one set for Alexander and Philip and one set for Macedonian Successor pikemen. The Successor pikemen will feature more fanciful helmets and can be used for Seleucid, later Antigonid and Pyrrhic a…rmies. These are ideal for fighting our Republican Romans and Ancient Greeks. They are also ideal for fighting ancient Persians, hint, hint. Finally a reminder that the 30% off deal finishes at midnight (British time) tomorrow (Sunday). Any orders over £35.00 GBP will receive 30% if they enter 30%off in the discount box at the check out stage."

I can see a day I going to have to melt all my lead for bullets which with all the plastic coming out will strangely be no loss. Cheers bright future has these Victrix chaps I think :) |

They do look very nice, and I had this momentary "I must buy this" thing go through my head. I'm wondering about them--Samnites are really a sort of niche product, not a big name army, like Republican Romans, Macedonians or hoplites. If producing them in plastic proves to be financially viable, it would seem that pretty much anything is. Or am I missing something here? Grelber |

Grelber, IMHO these figures can cover a lot of armies of that time frame in Italy.Mike Adams P.S. I also will be buying these figures!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Nice, but the plastics are getting expensive compared to what was – 1.30 per miniature is about average. |

Excellent figures, as Mike said they could be plain Samnites, Carthaginian allies, Pyrrhic allies and so on. My wallet is seriously concerned about the less than subtle hint hint about Persians! Garry |

@Colin, Wargames Factory has done them. You may not like them, but they have been done in plastic. As for the elephants, I think they will be great (I am a big fan of the Victrix ancients) but with the high costs of their newest plastics, I think Old Glory elephants may be a much cheaper investment. When you can get 2 elephants and 6 crew for $23.40 USD US dollars (with Old Glory membership) – and they are all metal! Will Victrix sell 2 elephants and crew for 15 Pounds? Just sayin' |

Sorry forgot Wargames Factory. I quite like them. Old Glory elephants are nice agreed but I like working with plastics. |

The WGF Persians could have some more variety. Mind you, plastics kits from 5 years ago are not the same quality as plastics kits today! They have come a long way in a very short period of time. I like working with plastics too, but after having spent a while working exclusively with plastic and then making a return to metals (well, not a return, but more involved with metals as I still do plastics) I have found the metals are, in many senses easier to work with than plastics. Bodies can be repositioned just by bending very slowly (mind you, this does depend upon the composition of the metal), heads can be easily cut off and new ones put on, arms and hands can be just as easily cut off as from plastic and new ones attached. Especially when most newest plastics kits have a plethora of spare parts included in them! Plastic parts can easily be glued to metal figures to make new poses, etc. I think the two really work well together. |

"I'm wondering about them--Samnites are really a sort of niche product, not a big name army" Heresy! Everybody needs some Italiotes in their armies :) My Carthaginians are definitely getting some! |

From the looks of these, they could be used for more action oriented Italian Allies for the Romans. |
