I really get a kick out of Asian horror flicks. I found this one for $3 USD at Big Lots. It's from Japan. I think the original title translates as Rabbit Horror 3D. It is a stand-alone film, but I'm told you will understand it better if you have seen Shock Labyrinth 3D first (I haven't). This is in Japanese with English subtitles.
The movie starts out with little Daigo (10 years old?) finding an injured rabbit in the school farm, and putting it out of its misery. Well, bludgeoning it to death.
Daigo then becomes the target of school bullies, who call him "rabbit killer." His step-sister Kiriko, who is the school librarian and also mute, tries to shield him, but Daigo decided to stop going to school. Kiriko and Daigo live with their father, who isolates himself in the world of illustrating pop-up books.
Daigo and Kiriko go to see a movie to enjoy themselves. The movie is Shock Labyrinth 3D. At one point during the movie, a 3D rabbit toy floats out of the movie and Daigo captures it. Daigo now begins to be tormented by visions or hallucinations featuring stuffed rabbits and someone in a full-size rabbit suit…
Thus begins a tremendously intrguing movie, which just when you think you have it figured out, takes another twist or turn. You will never look at rabbits the same again…
The movies breezes by at only 83 minutes long, and the ending will leave you wondering. The film is beautiful, and the actors are excellent in their parts. However, don't expect the ending to resolve all the plot questions…
No bad language or nudity that I remember. Some horror movie type gore. Not suitable for young children.
8 out of 10
Could you wargame this movie? I don't think so, but some of the ideas are quite appealing. Also, I wonder if anyone makes a figure of a person in a rabbit suit???
