Hello – I'm looking for some input as to what colors others have used for the green of the 1960s-80s soviet klmk or two-piece green camo with khaki splotches ( or the khaki, for that matter ) – I'm looking to paint up some of the Elhiem troops I've picked up.

Images I've found online or in books seem to vary from a very vivid lighter green to a more muted mid-green.

With most 20th-century armies I also tend to simply spray the figures in an enamel base coat of the predominant uniform color, so ideally I'm looking for a spray – but I frequently use the Model paint database to find a match to the excellent suggestions I find on these pages ( scalemodeldb.com/paint )

Thanks
Chris

If using Vallejo, I'd go with a base color of 120 for the light khaki, and then splotch 77 (bright green) over it.

74 would be another alternative, but looks to be slightly darker.

Both of those will get you in the ballpark, I think.

Always a bit hard to tell, since the Vallejo paints sometimes don't match up with their paint chips too well.

The color you want is a flat, bright, olive green color, based upon the uniform I've saved a sample pic of, on my PC.

Note – the guy is also wearing a facemask with the same camo, to match, which should certainly make your life easier.

I think this is an airborne, and/or other special forces uniform, e.g. Border Guards, Spetznaz, etc..
