Think its a good idea. I would make the size compatible with popular rules if possible- or at least multiples of same (i.e. 120mm for ancients) Personally I don't like bases leaving the figures looking like they are mounted on plinths so I would go for 2mm maximum depth, thinner if possible and having a bevelled edge can make them difficult to pick up. Lastly the bigger the size the easier it is to cut accurately so making your own bases shouldn't be hard and save on the expense. |

Re-basing? I would rather try skydiving without a parachute. |

Cut your own new bases from 3/32" basswood. Saves a lot of money that way and it's easy to cut with a box cutter and steel straightedge. |

While I hate re-basing I am currently doing the same thing with my Medievals – going from individual bases to unit bases, having gotten tired of moving 24 figures when my infantry units advance I am using 40X40 bases for my infantry, 4 figs per base – works for a few of the rules systems I use |

Try sabot bases. Easy enough to make up if your own bases are irregularly sized. Have a look at: link |

What Frederick said…only Napoleonics and especially for the ones I painted in the 80s. Can't get rid of them…memories. |

For what it is worth…. No matter what kind of bses you use gamers will pick figures up by the figures. Frankly, after turn 1 you have a hard time reaching the edges. Go with sabots, save yourself the time and trouble. |

I like rebasing figures. It is quicker and easier and cheaper han starting a whole new army. |

Definitely sabots for me. Life has to be too short to rebase, surely? |

Been doing that myself on my Nap 15's. 3"X3" on my infantry and cav,3"X 1.5" for my artillery. |

"Thinking about re-basing armies…" Re-basing armies doesn't bear thinking about! |
