Do these plastic miniatures have the same problems as reaper bones of turning sticky if Aerosol based primers or sealers are used on them? -Paul |

Yes, I still get the stickiness on the Zombicide figures (I can't say about Blood Rage since I don't own it.) I switched to Army Painter primer (I prime black), and it's fantastic for plastic minis (even Bones!) To kill the gloss of the primer, I paint a thin layer of black craft paint over everything after the primer has dried. (I use Delta Ceramcoat.) I throw all of my stuff into boxes, unvarnished and unprotected, and the paint has been holding for two years, now. |

As evilcartoonist alluded to, there are some spray primer that work with Reaper Bones figures & some that don't. There's a post on the reaper forums where someone reported on their experience with a number of primers. I've also used Army Painter Barbarian Flesh on Bones figures. Only problem is that it leaves a very smooth finish so the paint doesn't have a lot to adhere to. I've heard a suggestion that putting a matt coat on the figure after the army painter primer, would also "roughen" up the figure's surface to make it easier to paint. All of which doesn't answer your original question, but hopefully will help you with the figures. |

Oh yes, to follow up Cavalier's thoughts: The Delta Ceramcoat black layer I put on also adds enough tooth to paint on. But yes, the Army Painter primer will leave a smooth, difficult to paint surface at first, so you'll need to follow it up with something else that will hold the paint. And to mention, if it wasn't clear earlier: AP primer will NOT make your figures sticky :) |

I use cans of $1.99 USD primer grey from Home Depot and Walmart and have no issues with my Reaper Bones. Cannot speak to any other "softer" plastic figures, but I won't shell out for Army Painter spray cans when I can get the results I need cheaper and without having to do multiple coats of various cans to get paint to stick. As they say, YMMV. |

I've switched to gesso and so have avoided those issues… |

I've rebased and painted a few of my Zombicide zombies, never ever had a problem with them using any form of spray paint. And I only use the $1 USD Wal-Mart stuff as my primer. Not sure if they changed the plastic the zombicide figures are made of, but it feels like and cleans like alot of the newer PP or Relic Knight plastic. |

Just curious, what specific brand(s?) are you guys getting from Walmart? I'd like to give it a try. |

I cannot comment on spray paints as i dont use them but the most important step in painting plastic miniatures is to wash them in warm soapy water before you start painting. It removes all residue and solutions used to get them out of the moulds. My Blood Rage figures:- TMP link |
