Not a conflict I know well at all, but it seems appropriate it has its own board. Well done, and congratulations! |

I have always been interested in gong it, but was never going to paint up and collect all the factions. If there were other guys in my group willing to give it a go, I would. |

One of our group is working on forces for the period. I'm looking forward to playing games set during the Spanish Civil War. It sure is interesting as a subject of study… |

I wonder if this will be broken off from the WWII boards so that it can for part of an inter-war section with Russian Civil War, Abyssinia and such? |

So long, we will miss you guys for a while at least and then we will forgot about you. We will carry on. It will be as if the SCW never happen. Banished to a gulag of your own making. |

What were the tactical lessons learned from the SCW? Thanks. |
peterx | 13 Oct 2015 2:34 p.m. PST |
Captain DEwell, the lesson is: don't fight a land war on Iberian Peninsula when the Fascists and Nazis are backing the Spanish Nationalist Generals. |

A lesson was that colonial style columns could work against amateur unorganized militias but not against entrenched positions or organized troops. Also, light tanks assaulting infantry could run into much danger, even with the infantry having to use unconventional weapons (molotov coctels and such). Too, stopping the momentum of an offensive to reduce isolated points of resistance instead of containing and bypassing them could stall the offensive and give time to the defenders to rally and counterattack (nothing new here -think Germantown in the AWI IIRC, but it applied to modern warfare too). SCW had its share of amphibious raid/commando style operations, fortified defenses, mobile warfare and bombing against civilian targets, and both air superiority and ground attack, for example. |

Display on Homepage? Where is this selection to be found, WWI board list? I assume it will join the RCW there. Or is it being automatically displayed on the TMP mainpage always the default until deselected? TIA… |

A welcome addition to the boards! |

A big thanks to Bill and his team for transferring the SCW-related threads over to the shiny new house. Quite a job – I never realised there were so many. Lots of stuff of great personal interest I'd missed as they were scattered across various boards I don't often look at (WW2, Gallery, Media, Reviews etc.) Cheriton – The Spanish Civil War Board will be on the "World War Two – Land" area as Bill let me know the "World War One" directory only covers to 1929. Rallynow – sorry you feel that way but I think we're gonna be just fine! Check in now and again and say hello. |
