… Light To Shoot Down Hostile Russian Jets Over Syria? "RAF fighter jets will be armed with air-to-air missiles and have been given the green light to shoot down hostile Russian planes. British and Nato pilots have been told to take the drastic action if they are fired on by Vladimir Putin's air force during missions over Iraq. The move comes after British ministers warned Russia had made the situation in the Middle East "much more dangerous". Senior defence sources say it is just a matter of time before our fighters are involved in a deadly confrontation with Russian jets…" Full article here link YouTube link Amicalement Armand |

Hold the parade – RAF aircraft always have the right to self defence if they are fired upon… |

Perhaps, but now they have the missiles to do that too. Reminds me a bit of all the guards they station around various countries, to protect and intimidate, but then don't bother letting them have ammo to go in the guns. I suspect putting Putin and Russia on notice may help keep any confrontations erupting in the air, between the two nations. |

… let's not worry too much about Armand's clickbait reports. And even if correct, remember a Guards Captain (James Blunt, now a singer) tasked with getting the Russian Airborne out of Pristina (Kosovo). He used his judgement and negotiated an outcome, rather than start WW3. I'm sure the small number 4-8 Russian planes in the CAP role will be sensible as will most/allied NATO opponents. As opposed to Turkey who are actively trying to destroy the Kurds,if not actively supporting ISIS. |

It's a total BS story. First puked onto paper by the Daily Express and then copied by every other rag with no actual journalism involved at any stage of the process. |

RAF Tornados have frequently carried ASRAAMs over Syria and as N417 says, they have always had the ability within their RoE to defend themselves against attack. |

Nothing new on this front. Sounds like hot air being blown around to make it sound like NATO is going to step up. |
