Does anyone know what color these would be? I assume the standard British bugle was brass, but the HLI have white metal, so might they have had white metal bugles as well?

Franklin shows them as brass bugles on the uniform plate.

Put it this way, the Regimental Quick March of the Light Infantry, the final Regiment to absorb all the various Light Infantry Regiments, was:

'Silver Bugles'…

and the 71st's Lace distinction, of Gold or Silver, was:

Silver…
