Our regularly scheduled game, a well thought out My Galley Sally scenario, had to be canceled at the last minute.
So, while roger and I were sitting on the porch, pondering, we came up with a "Hey Johyn. Just throw up some AWI on the table and we will have a Last Man Standing game."
OK. We still had some cocoa chili to eat and beer to drink while I … pondered.
Jim and Mark and Mike arrived, and it looked like that would be it.
So we shook out the cloth from the table that had been rolled up to show the sea vinyl mat underneath. Wow. That was a LOT of dust!
So, the guys put out random terrain while I pulled out drawers of skirmish based AWI troops.
I put the whiskey wagon in the middle of the table.
I passed out two 15 figure units and a general to:
Mark got 2
Indian units.
Mike got the New York state troops.
Roger got Brunswick Jaegers and musketeers.
Jim got British pimp hat boyz and LI.
I got Green coated Loyalists who suddenly became the Green Mountain Boys and Rangers. Natural enemies of the New York troops.
The object was to control the whiskey wagon at the end of the game.
And you started where you were sitting.
Roger snuck behind me, giving me qualms based on past experience with zombie games. So, I only sent the Green Mountain Boys after the whiskey wagon.
He kept reassuring me of good intentions. After all, aren't Green Mountain Boys and Brunswickers natural allies?
It seemed so when the British and New York troops exchanged several volleys.
Mike's 2nd Regiment charged me.
Since it was a thrown together scenario, all troops were rated Egyptians in TSATF.
(Indians shot at -1 but meleed at +1. Jaegers were the opposite.)
Mike had an "anything but a 6" to close and rolled a … 6.
I returned the favor and roll next turn.
Jim and Mike abandoned their little war and came after me. Surprisingly, Roger stayed non hostile, even helping me defend the wagon.
We played rough terrain with open order troops' movement as 3D6, drop the high die. we all rolled a lot of 1,2,6.
so, the White Guys shot the hell out of each other and slew each other hip and thigh in melee. Mark's Indians took pot shots at everybody and in the last turn, declared he would win the wagon next turn. He was right.
It's always good to have available troops and rules you all know inside out for emergencies.
I really need to get my Hitler and Goebbels finished so we can play Eat Hitler next time.
