Found Dan's videos on You Tube about his imagination collection, mostly Napoleonic, today and enjoyed watching them. When I found his blog, I was chagrined to find he had passed away in 2014 and most of his blog posts were blocked.
He wrote his own rules called Dressed to Kill. His approach to wargaming seemed really interesting to me. If anyone knew him or played games with him, I'd like to know if there is any availability to his ruleset. He did have a son whom he said played games with him. His painting was first rate and he modeled as well. He was also a good friend of the late Chuck Vadun. Very talented. Sorry he's gone.

I knew and played with both Dan and Chuck in the mid 90's. I'm afraid I don't have a copy of his rules, but I still have some books and figures Dan painted for me. I tried to contact him over the years, the last time in 2013 when he never responded. I was sorry to hear of his demise last summer, as we were good friends at one time.

Get started with one of his painting videos: youtu.be/1GUl2_WB0O4

I'll try to find one of his vids on "dressed to kill"

Thanks Timotheous. That's the one. Beautifully painted figures. Very excellent Minifig painting. A great Napoleonic or Imagi-Nation army to be proud of.
On another note losing a good friend is hard and we wargamers from the 70's are pushing 60 and 70. Friends are leaving us at a faster rate. We will miss them greatly.

Dan was one of the greatest figure painters I ever knew (Chuck Vadun was the other). Dan was also among the most generous people I ever knew.

There are sites here and there with the larger figure bases, I assume stemming first from V&B, Grand Armee, and Snappy Nappy. I think that is a great way to go with larger scale games and potentially fewer figures unless you are a megalomaniac and you know who you are. That's why his video really impressed me in a big way. What a big loss to the hobby as well as his friends and family.

In his video of his army Dan talked about placing a triangular shape die as an order marker for his cavalry. He called it a 2 order unit as the die indicates. In one of his videos describing his yet to be painted units, Dan gave out the values used for an open order unit and a close order unit. The values were Points 8, Class 3, Move 3, Range 3, Melee 2, Open Order. His close unit he mentioned had slightly different values in the listing for a close order unit. Good videos to watch for your own ideas and adaptations.
