There are interesting frescos of knights in Iwein at Schloss Rodenegg (Rodeneck), 1215-1220, Northern Italy.
Iwein is a Middle High German verse romance by the poet Hartmann von Aue, written around 1203. It is Arthurian tale adapted from Chrétien de Troyes' Old French Yvain, the Knight of the Lion, it tells the story of Iwein (Ywain), a knight of King Arthur's Round Table.
There is a large image of Aschelon and Ywain fighting with lances, in flat-topped-helmets with facemasks and brigandines.

Nice.

Coats-of-plates, rather than brigandines?

Coats-of-plates, rather than brigandines?

Yes, quite possibly.

Wow can you imagine if you were the plasterer (stucco-er?) that had to repair that damaged wall? I'd be beside myself, and I'd want a serious disclaimer for damages.

Why coat if pkates ir brigandine.mIt looks more like a pattern on the surcoat that is carried over all of it. That is if we are referring to the circles of white dots on the cloth??
