That is nice. I first misread this as "Painted Mameluke Board" and thought that was a bit TOO specialized. |

Oh yes………. You beat me to it and well done. I am saving these images to copy your work. I got distracted with their Gendarmes, but my mamelukes are just undercoated in white at present. If they turn out remotely like these, I will be delighted. Glad to see round bases are catching on. I only started to use them as I get them from the discarded equipment at the end of every microsurgical case I do! What about the leather work on the drummer's saddle in the 5th picture then? Brilliant…………..I'll copy that if I can! |

Hi Giles, These are fantastic, very well done mate! Great subject, I love that you often produce something exotic and highly individual. I know from years of following your blog that you were well & truly in the van guard when it comes to round bases.. I keep my fingers crossed that Alan Perry might do Mamalukes at some stage.. Thanks for posting. |

Just looking at the PM Facebook pages, Alan, in response to a question regarding the Likelihood of him doing Mameluks, says they 'will come'….. Yes……! |

Beautiful figures.. Hardly a "band " more like a percussion section. |

Actually a very good point. In all my searches, I cannot find any images of musicians in Mamelukes of the Garde (Obviously drummers/percussionists are not musicians……….) Too small a unit I would imagine, but would love to be corrected……. |
