While starting to work on the small number of figures I realized that I don't have any Flags so can someone point me in the direction of where I can go to get flags?

Thanks
Michael

Michael,

Many flags for foot for both sides are readily available . . . but it is much harder to find them for mounted units.

This is made more difficult because there is no surviving information about the flags for a great many ECW units.

Besides the (free) Warflags link posted above, there are numerous commercial sources for ECW flags . . . but still there is little known about the flags and uniform information for the majority of ECW units.

Personally I used the then-free, but no longer so) flags (and uniform info) from Wargames Designs for my Royalist aremy:

wargamesdesigns.com/ecw.html

Photos of the first dozen foot units can be seen here & here:

You (and anyone else) are most welcome to copy anything I have done . . . note that for the most part I avoided most of the "famous" units, so if you want to model them, you can certainly find information and flags for them.

However the bottom line is that information about most units is not known.

Jeff of SaxeBearstein you're right about the flag information and I'll do what I can with what flag information is out there.

I do have a book which I acquired from a friend's family who passed away but the book is called Military Flags of the World 1618-1900 by Terence Wise 1978 it was published by Arco and part of their Arco Color Series.

It's a nice book and there's a small section on the ECW and it's not to bad.

Just curious was there ever a book published on English Civil War Flags?

I'm somewhat shocked that Osprey hasn't done one since they did a decent number of ECW books so I was just curious.

ECW foot colours for 28mm

As ECW colours are not overly difficult to paint I fell I just need some guidance.
I have drawn 3 templates in pencil before copying in black pen, a gyrony, a pilewavy and stars, I draw Lt Col, Major and 2 Captains on the same colour, using the % thing on a copier reduce it to the required size and number you need. .

Just paint in what you need and paint out what you don't need.
With thees 3 templates I have produced over 20 colour for my 28mm army and using the reducing facility on the copyer produced a number for my 15mm as well.
