Just writing a very late war scenario involving the Maus… I can hear the groans from here!
The functioning version is pictured with its turret almost off somewhere on Kummersdorf or on its way to Berlin depending on what version you believe. Now having looked at the picture the background shows a distinctive house. Note brick work, small window.. I think it's this one here panoramio.com/photo/69492702 lets hope the links work!! The location of this building is 200m from Maybach I the HQ for OKH, Maybach II HQ for OKW is nearby as is the Zepplin Comms centre Now what was it doing there? Anyone can you help? The damage, any BDA experts that could give their thoughts? |

supposidly it was on its way to berlin. the crew decided to scuttle it. would have been interesting to see what would have happened if it got to the city. i guess not much… |

Thanks for this picture The first picture has the lorry sign on the lamp post. Behind it you have the brick work arch that looks like the one above the car in the first BW picture. To the right of the lorry sign is a small square window hidden behind the small fir tree, in the BW its above the car. The second BW picture shows the distinctive long dormer window in the roof…. |

Darn….. Just when "Street View" on Google Earth would really be useful, they've not covered that area yet. I wonder if "After the Battle" has ever done an article on these photos? Duck |

If you want to use a Maus in your games them by all means use one. Just make sure your gaming buddies are happy. Whilst its a super tank in every form , one can't help thinking that it would be very vulnerable to aircraft rocket attacks . |

I played a decent Maus game some years back – it was based on the original 'Ogre' systems, so the Maus took successive damage to its various weapons and mobility systems, whilst hordes of T34s and Russian infantry armed with captured panzerfausts swarmed around it. Quite good fun. |

Surely Rockets would be overkill…all you need is a maustrap and a large piece of cheese… |
