Because they actually roll on table rather than just stopping.

However, with normal cubes, you get very little roll, which is preferable for tables without raised rims. Also, could one not simply use conventional D12s but -6 for 7-12?
Also, I don't really understand why some people reroll dice which have been obstructed. How do you know that you would have had a different result had the obstacle not been in the way?
