A potential client has asked me to assist him in finding very specific 12mm figures for a diorama he's putting together. All figures preferably should be 18th Century and 12mm in scale. His needs are: 1. Virginia militiamen standing on guard 2. British Naval Officers standing at attention 3. British sailors driving a horse drawn wagon I suspect the first two will be easier to find than the third. Though it seems 12mm is an odd scale, as I can find 10mm and 15mm. Does anyone have some suggestions or the ability to point me in the right direction? Thanks! |

In wargaming there is not really a "12mm" scale beyond Kalistra. Some places claim 1/144 scale models are "12mm" but they vary quite a bit, with many claiming 1/144 is really 10mm. I'll be blunt: you are looking for very obscure subjects in a very obscure scale – I would be preparing a plan B. Model railroad items in TT scale might work as they are 1:120 scale. N scale in model railroads is 1:160 Good luck! |

Thank you Jan & EC…Kallistra may work for some of what he's looking for (obviously I'd let him decide). I gathered pretty quick that both the scale and his specific needs will be hard to come up w/. The hunt continues… |

Historifigs sells the old Scruby n-gauge figures. The American Revolution and Seven Year War ranges aren't extensive, and the poses are limited, but they are 12mm scale. Because the detail is very basic, a fair amount of painting by conversion could be done. For instance, the standing AWI/SYW officer figure could easily be painted as a British naval officer. |
