Finished the last two units tonight to call a halt on my Dwarf Army (well I've run out of Stunties… anyone got any?) and time to start another Oldhammer army…

The final unit is my less than glamorous support and logistics troops, led by the illegitimate son of the previous King Bosch. As the unit is responsible for all mining and engineering tasks, it keeps the bastard son away from the glory most of the time, but Grom 'The Black' Dekkar is still managing to cause a stir and his men seem quite capable of dealing with any trouble they find…

These two units complete the first phase of the army, and the Brothers Bosch will soon take to the field…

Various more pics here if ye can be bothered to go digging…

Are all of these old GW sculpts from the 1980s? I am not very familiar with dwarf figures, but these Maruader-era ones always seem fantastic compared to modern dwarf fantasy ranges.

Very cool and finely painted!

Ivan DBA06 Oct 2015 7:41 a.m. PST

Wonderful painting. Each one of those old sculpts is a character figure in its own right. They truly do not make 'em like this anymore.

wehrmacht06 Oct 2015 7:49 a.m. PST

Amazing. Lovely work.

PiersBrand06 Oct 2015 8:11 a.m. PST

Yes… all old GW sculpts from 1983 to 1989…

Spent this year collecting and painting them up along with a bunch of other old armies to rebuild the collection I used to have as a kid.

Though I seem to have more figures now…

Looks great. What the heck is the standard? I can't make it out from the photos.

It's a little dragon.

Lovely Dwarf army!
And costly too, these days.

I also have a small pre-slotta Dwarven force, but expanding is not cheap. I have been thinking to add other manufacturers.

PiersBrand06 Oct 2015 3:22 p.m. PST

Cheaper than GW…

Didn't pay more than £1.00 GBP to £2.00 GBP per figure, often less.

Wealdmaster10 Oct 2015 8:07 p.m. PST

How to acquire so cheaply, trying to find goblins from this era and cost more than 12 dollars each.

Capt Flash12 Oct 2015 1:27 p.m. PST

Very nice army you have there.
I'm thinking going with different manufacturers as long as the minis have a nice oldhammer or traditional fantasy look.
After I finish my Mantic dwarf army of course….

Lovely stuff sir. I'm glad it isn't just me Piers. I seem to have replaced what was lost from my childhood and forgotten to stop :) Mine were all intended for AHQ (my 3rd ed armies are individually based 10mm warmaster or original sculpts/conversions). Now I'm considering using them for WHFB. Is there no part of my hobby you can't influence Piers :)

Beautiful, really.

Just an amazing looking army, vintage dwarves, love it!

IronMike09 Feb 2016 9:16 p.m. PST

Man, if some enterprising soul was to do a kickstarter for clones of these under the title of 'royal dwarves' or something, I wonder how well they'd sell?
